Four rooms · one calm app

Everything you keep close, in one place.

Kala means fortress in Albanian and time in Sanskrit. The app is both: a calm planner for your days and a private place for the things that matter.

Plan your days

Capture anything, plan it on a day, check it off. Routines, checklists, a weekly review and stats that show what you really did.

Technology

Built on proven, boring foundations.

Kala runs on Google Firebase in the EU. Here is the journey of one chat message — and an honest list of what Kala can and cannot see.

  2. 02Sent securelyIt travels over an encrypted connection (TLS) to Google Firebase in Europe.Encrypted in transit

The shortest list we could make. If it is not on this table, we do not collect it.

FAQ

Questions worth asking.

A privacy app should answer the hard questions first. Anything missing? Write to genti@eng.al.

What is Kala?

Kala is a free daily planner with notes, a documents vault, a library of books and films, private chats that disappear, and teams. It works in your browser today; the iPhone and Android apps are being released. It is made in Tirana, Albania.

Is Kala free?

Yes. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no ads.

Do I need a phone number?

No. You register with an email address or your Google account, and in chats you use a nickname.

Is Kala end-to-end encrypted?

No. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Google Firebase, and security rules limit who can read it. Administrators see counts, not content, and we do not read your messages — except the latest texts of a person that someone reports.

Who can see my notes, tasks and documents?

Only you. Kala administrators can see your name, email, sign-in method and counts such as tasks per day — never the content of your tasks, notes, library, documents or note photos.

Where is my data stored?

In Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging), in European regions (eur3 and europe-west1).

Can someone take a screenshot of a chat?

On the phone, Kala blocks screenshots in chats. In the browser it hides the chat when you switch away and blocks printing, as far as a browser allows.

Does Kala work offline?

Yes. The phone app opens and works without internet, and your changes sync when you are back online.

How do teams work?

Create a company, invite colleagues by email and make groups. When you share a note or a task, the receiver gets an email and decides whether to accept; only then does a copy appear in their Kala.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Delete account. It immediately deletes your profile, all your data and your sign-in account. You can also ask by email — see the delete-account page.

Which languages does Kala speak?

English and Italiano. The language follows your device, and you can change it in Settings → Language.
